Start with the connection you want to make
A regular activity, volunteer role or local club can be a practical way to get involved in Hastings and St Leonards. Think about the kind of connection you want, how often you can take part and which part of town you can reach comfortably.
Different organisations manage their own programmes. A community venue, football club and support charity have different enquiry routes, so a little context helps the organiser point you towards a relevant opportunity rather than a general mailing list.
Ask a venue about its current activities
Hastings Centre on The Ridge publishes room-hire and event information alongside its Coffee Box cafe. His Place Community Church on Robertson Street provides another local contact for community life and church activities. Use each organisation’s own information for its current programme.
For a room booking, explain the activity, date, expected numbers and equipment needed. Ask about access and setting up. A venue can then discuss an appropriate space instead of having to work out the plan from a broad request to hire a hall.
Look at sport and creative involvement
Hastings United publishes fixtures, tickets and supporter information from its Elphinstone Road ground. The club’s own visitor guidance is useful for a first match visit. Check the current fixture and ticket arrangements rather than relying on an older listing.
Project Art Works on Braybrooke Terrace describes collaborative arts programmes, workshops and its Support Collective. Its activities have different purposes and participation arrangements, so contact the organisation about the programme that interests you. The White Rock also publishes opportunities connected with local performance and community activities.
Use the right route for support or volunteering
Hastings HEART coordinates volunteers supporting and connecting people across Hastings and St Leonards. The Sara Lee Trust supports people affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in Hastings and Rother, with details of its services and referral routes online.
Describe your interests and availability when asking about volunteering. For support, use the relevant service contact; donation collections and fundraising often have separate teams. An organisation’s office address is not automatically a drop-off point for donated goods.
