Choose a shopping route that fits the errand
Hastings shopping is spread across the town centre, Old Town and neighbourhood streets, with St Leonards offering another distinct group of shops and food stops. A practical errand and a relaxed browse may call for different starting points, rather than one route that tries to cover everything.
Check a specialist shop’s current website and address before a longer journey. For a repair, bespoke item or particular product, a phone call with useful details can save time and help the business explain what is available.
Browse the Old Town streets
George Street and High Street have independent shops with very different specialisms. Goldenhands on George Street offers crystals, gifts and gothic or fantasy-inspired items. Shimizu Flowers on High Street takes floral enquiries, while Made in Hastings features work by local makers and artists.
AG Hendy and Company is another High Street stop, with household goods and tools forming part of its distinctive home-store range. These businesses reward a specific enquiry: give a product type, occasion or intended use rather than only asking whether the shop has something suitable.
Include everyday and creative supplies
Queens Road provides a town-centre route with services and shops, including Pet Express for pet food and supplies. Alexandra Parade is a separate useful stop for Kings Stationers and Sweet Pea and Willow Florist. Keep the actual street in mind when planning several errands.
Kings Stationers publishes art materials, framing, scanning and printing services. For a print or framing enquiry, bring the dimensions and information about the original. For flowers, give the occasion, date and delivery location so the florist can discuss suitable arrangements.
Add a food stop or explore St Leonards
Kings Road and Norman Road in St Leonards provide another route for independent browsing and food. Farmyard is on Kings Road and Arigato on Norman Road, while the Bank Hotel and Bistro is on Grand Parade. Choose the meeting place and address before setting off.
The directory helps you find shops and services around the part of town you plan to visit. What’s On is useful for selected dated markets and seasonal activities; a shop’s own page is the better source for its current stock, appointments and delivery arrangements.
